UNBISnet -- Viewing information for a specific item

After doing a search, you may want to view more information about a particular item listed in the search results. UNBISnet can display holdings information (availability) for the item, a brief summary of the item, links to more item by the same author or related subjects within the library, as well as the full marc record of the item.

If a particular item is available at other library locations, you can see holdings information for those locations by clicking the Other Locations button under the Copy/Holding information. If you do not have an Other Locations button, this item is only available at this location.

To view information for a specific item

  1. Search for a library item. UNBISnet returns your search results as a list of titles.
  1. Click the title of the item. UNBISnet displays information for the title. If any item is available at another library, UNBISnet displays the Other Locations button.

Tip:  If the item is part of a multi-volume set, you can see the volumes (V1., V., and so forth) that apply to the item in the Copy/Holding information section when you click on the item.

You can switch between Marc display and non-Marc display by clicking the link of "MARC Display" or "NON-MARC Display" at the end of the detialed record information and before the holding information.

Special Notes for Voting Record:   Detailed Voting field will give you the voting detials of all the member states on the topic. There are 5 different status of the vote:

Y - Yes;
N - No;
A - Abstained;
blank - the country chose note to vote or were not eligible to vote;
9 - Not eligible to participate (refers to countries which have, according to Article 19 of the Charter of the United Nations, lost their right to vote in the General Assembly because the amount of their arrears equals or exceeds the amount of contributions due from them for the preceding two full years.)

  2. If you want to see holdings information for another location, click Other Locations.

  3. If you want to see more information for a volume in a set, click the Volume link.

After viewing information about a specific item, you can:

To E-mail information for a specific item

If you want to, you can e-mail information about a specific library item to any e-mail address.

  1. Do one of these options:

  2. If you want to send the information as HTML text, mark the HTML button.

  3. If you want to send the information as plain text, mark the Plain text button.

  1. If you want to, change the subject line in the Subject field.

  2. Enter the e-mail address that you want to send the information to in the Email To field.

  3. Click Send.

To Request Resource from the Library

Request Resource is a feature that allows you to send your request to the library. After the library received your request, a dedicated librarian will contact you and do search on the materials requested by you.
  1. Search for a library item.
  2. Scroll down to Request Resource.
  3. Enter the numbers of the items you want to request in Request Items box.
  4. Enter your name and telephone number.
  5. Enter your office name.
  6. Enter your email address.
  7. Click Request Resource button
UNBISnet will send your request to the library.

Note:  This service is only available for UN staff and staff from Permanent Missions to UN.
